Phil provides vision and leadership for the 1UP team, and helps good organizations become great. He specializes in strategy development, financial planning, and setting goals for the team. Phil also speaks at conferences and co-authored a book on social media marketing for the travel trade.
Outside work, Phil swaps digital planning for spending time with his wife and 2 kids, playing beach volleyball and soccer, and likes to be in the mountains or at the beach.
Ivan Gonzalez
PPC & Paid Media Specialist
Ivan brings a wealth of experience and expertise as a PPC & Paid Media Specialist. His knowledge of PPC marketing has helped our clients to achieve outstanding results, and his contribution to our team is invaluable.
Outside of work, Ivan enjoys exploring the world of wine, particularly in his favourite wine region, Slovenia Gorica Verde. He’s also an avid soccer fan, both watching and playing. Above all, Ivan is a dedicated family man, and he loves spending time with his wife and kids.
Amir Heydari
SEO Specialist
Amir is an experienced SEO specialist and instructor who spends most of his time optimizing websites for search engines. He is passionate about staying up-to-date with the latest SEO strategies.
When not working, Amir loves adventure and outdoor activities such as paddle boarding and skiing. He’s a well balanced individual who excels both professionally and personally.
Imaan Jiwa
Digital Marketing Account Manager
Imaan possesses a wealth of client-facing experience, complemented by her skills in PPC and SEO. With a background in Psychology and Global Business, she has honed her talent for cultivating strong relationships.
Beyond immersing herself in the captivating realm of digital marketing, you’ll find Imaan rock climbing in Squamish, surfing, travelling, and discovering the best food in Vancouver.
Samantha Markham
Digital Marketing Team Lead
Samantha has a broad mix of digital marketing experience spanning PPC, SEO, and CRO – plus wider campaign management involving strategic media partnerships and digital transformation. With connected international experience, working with marketing teams across London, Paris, Hong Kong, and now Vancouver, she’s adept in delivering success in digital marketing for a range of clients and brands.
Outside of work, you can find Sam climbing BC’s hills on her bicycle, hiking a mountain, or traversing the water on her paddleboard.
James Olson
Jr. Digital Marketing Account Manager
James brings a client centric and communications focused approach to his role with the 1UP team thanks to his diverse background in customer service, digital marketing, and copywriting.
When not at work, James is playing in shows with his band, hosting a podcast, and checking out music events in Vancouver.
Julien Simon
COO & Integrator
Julien leads the operations team and ensures that every member of the team is achieving great goals. Specializing in SEO, SEM, analytics, and usability, he has led successful online campaigns for 7-Eleven, CBC Radio, Ramada Hotels, Expedia and other big brands.
When not mining analytics reports for insights, Julien likes to climb or bike up the closest mountain or ski down it.
Ankith Shetty
Digital Marketing Specialist
Ankith brings with him a wealth of experience, with over 8 years in the digital marketing realm. His expertise lies in PPC and SEO, and he will be working diligently behind the scenes to improve and execute our strategies.
Outside the office, Ankith channels his commitment to discipline through his passion for jiu-jitsu, showcasing his dedication to professional and personal pursuits.
Juliet Westlake
Executive Assistant / HR Administrator
Juliet brings extensive experience in the legal industry to the executive and operations teams. Her background in Technology and Society at the University of Victoria plays an integral role in our internal digital marketing, sales, office management, IT, and HR.
When Juliet is not working, she enjoys spending time being active outside, either going horseback riding, hiking, biking, or kayaking.
Mackenzie Zettler
Sr. Digital Marketing Account Manager
Mackenzie takes her experience in the customer service industry, to build long-lasting client relationships and increasing brand loyalty. She brings a creative and strategic mindset and is eager to flex her skills in SEO, PPC & CRO.
When she’s not behind her computer, Mackenzie can be seen cycling around the city, exploring the backcountry, or relaxing at the beach. She is passionate about low impact living and can repurpose just about anything!
